On Thursday 8 July 2021, at the Auditorium of the University of Tuscia in Viterbo, the conference “The future of sustainable and responsible mobility” was held, conceived and organized by Adrenaline24h and the University of Tuscia, made possible thanks to the support of Engie Italia S.p.A. and under the patronage of the Municipality of Viterbo – Department of Culture, Tourism and Sport.
The central theme of the meeting and the debate was the evolution of mobility from a social, cultural and industrial point of view, from the early 1900s to today. A theme recounted and debated through the different points of view of the speakers, who through their talks traced the common thread ideally linking the idea of mobility at the start of the 20th century, through the cars that made motoring history by taking part in the first edition of the Mille Miglia in 1927, up to the cars of the present and the future, increasingly geared towards sustainable and green mobility, like the cars taking part in the Mille Miglia Green.
Fourteen speakers were present, important names on the national and international smart mobility scene. The initial cue for the conference comes precisely from the first, legendary edition of the Mille Miglia, which in 1927 showed the whole world how cars could truly be considered the present and future of the emerging mobility of the 20th century. From there, the rest is history, and cars – and the very concept of car and mobility/movement – have come a long way. The history of vehicles and their future was the central theme of the conference: a dialogue on the role of cars in the future and in our everyday lives – will cars take on a different form, will they simply become a means for mobility? What technological solutions will allow us to move around sustainably?
Cinzia Chiulli took part in the event and presented the project “YOUR STEP IS ALREADY HISTORY”. The ceramic “footprints” on which pilgrims of the Via Francigena leave an eternal record of their passage through the medieval quarter of San Pellegrino in the City of the Popes.
Cinzia had the footprints – an exclusive product of the Percorsi Artistici ceramics workshop of Cinzia Chiulli – signed by the speakers present, to “immortalize” the event and the presence of illustrious figures in Viterbo.
Cinzia Chiulli then presented (and gave as a gift to participants) THE TREE OF LIFE. A hand-painted ceramic plate (see photo), made with the four colours of medieval Viterbo: manganese brown, copper green, iron yellow and raised saffron blue.
The number 4 corresponds to the four natural elements that make it possible to call ceramics a “noble” art, since it is the only one that needs air, water, earth and fire.
This number represents the perfection of the square, stable like a table resting on four legs.
The five leaves of the tree recall the human body, the head and the four limbs, just as the spirit tames matter. Every one of our thoughts must be closely connected with action, just as a driver is connected to the car they are driving.
The saffron blue placed inside the trunk is meant to highlight the balance, stability and connections between spirit and matter. This precious “Zafferano” majolica, whose secret recalls “a very elevated thought”, arises from the overlapping of transparencies and takes shape from the opposites of light and depth, blue being the colour of wisdom and Spirituality.
