The winners of the First Edition of Tuscia Libris, the national writing competition of the City of Viterbo, have been revealed.
As one of the emotional jurors, I wanted to highlight the growing sense of wonder and the old and new feelings I experienced reading your stories, even though, despite such a “focused” theme, they were so different from one another. It was a true honour for me to create your Prizes, and the Lion, the city’s heraldic symbol – and now also the symbol of this literary prize – represents, in a way, all of us, in the pride of celebrating a story, whether small or great, which, the moment it steps outside its intimate, personal boundary, becomes something that belongs to all of us. Any form of artistic language becomes an emotion suspended in time, ready to reignite at any moment, just as happens when we open a book for the first time, or reopen one after a long while. I hope to meet you at the next editions, and even more so if you come to visit me at my Studio on Via San Pellegrino 27, where, given my constant presence there, I have come to “identify” with the bridge-house, a typical medieval dwelling of the historic centre, beneath which my workshop is located. You told me your stories, while I will be able to reveal to you the “Arcana of Faul“: let’s keep being moved and let beauty rub off on us.
