A bas-relief made up of ten modules, each created by a different person. It was born within “Forme e Colori nella terra di Tuscia” (Shapes and Colours in the Land of Tuscia), under the teaching and technical coordination of Cinzia Chiulli, the exhibition-competition organised by CNA Viterbo and Civitavecchia, held from 29 April to 15 May 2022.
And yesterday that work was donated to the La Caterinaccia cultural centre, the well-known 20th-century female figure who is precisely the subject of the piece.
During Forme e Colori, ceramicist Cinzia Chiulli of Percorsi Artistici – also president of CNA Artistico e Tradizionale – ran one of the workshops. She was the one who coordinated the work on the panel. At yesterday’s handover, those present included the Viterbo City Councillor for Social Policies, Patrizia Notaristefano, councillors Alessandra Croci and Marco Nunzi, the secretary of CNA Viterbo and Civitavecchia, Luigia Melaragni, together with Cinzia Chiulli and Marta Nori, president of the social promotion association Kyanos, which opened the La Caterinaccia cultural centre, whose logo was designed by Ivan Cappelli.
Mara Nori and Cinzia Chiulli, the former recalled, met while organising ceramics workshops for women who are victims of violence, inside the centre. They called them the workshops of the soul. Nori thanked Melaragni, who involved her in some days dedicated to ceramics, where the works of the young women from the centre were exhibited.
“During the workshop at Forme e Colori – said Cinzia Chiulli – we became aware that small things can be done, with joy and above all together. That’s how the idea for the panel was born, made by ten people, each with a module to create: once put together, the figure of the Caterinaccia, the association’s logo, emerged. Working on something that then has to be put together is not at all simple, and everyone who did it was a non-professional.”
Councillor Notaristefano stressed the importance of the panel, and the pride of seeing works that speak about the city.
