With the project “YOUR STEP IS ALREADY HISTORY” by Cinzia Chiulli – Percorsi Artistici, our City of Viterbo has “immortalised” the passage of Bruno and his inseparable travelling companion, the little donkey Salam, on a journey that began more than two years ago in Jerusalem, bound for Santiago de Compostela.
I had prepared two footprints, one for Bruno and one for Salam, but our friend preferred that both their names be placed within the same footprint, because this is their journey, in which they share everything: tiredness, joy, wonder… the very same things we Viterbesi feel when we have the pleasure of crossing paths and turning them into an occasion for exchanging knowledge and sharing emotions and experiences.
Waiting for them at my workshop on Via San Pellegrino, 27 (along the route of the Via Francigena that passes through Viterbo), there were also some children who had set up a lovely little “work stall”, where, armed with a brush, Bruno wrote his own name and that of his friend Salam on a slab of peperino, our volcanic stone.
The City of Viterbo welcomed them, and they gave us the mark of their passage in return.
Thank you Bruno, thank you Salam.
